POLICY BRIEF

Florida’s Health Information Network – What will it cost to develop?

Download a PDF of this policy brief.

The cost of developing the Florida Health Information Network, Florida’s effort to develop an electronic medical records system, is examined in a new issue brief released by the Florida Health Policy Center.

It is hoped the brief, the first commissioned by the Florida Health Policy Center, will help educate consumers, stake holders and policy-makers on the public support needed to build the infrastructure for the state's electronic medical record initiative.

Researched and written by Paul Gionfriddo, the Executive Director of the Palm Beach Health Alliance, the brief examines both the potential costs and benefits of the Florida Health Information Network. The analysis focuses primarily on the regional health information organizations or RHIO’s and the costs associated with launching each regional health information exchange.
